The Wedge Comedy Festival 2017

This Summer The Wedgewood Rooms will be hosting a multi-date Comedy Festival throughout June, July and August to celebrate 25 years as a Comedy venue. Working with Off The Kerb Productions, home to Bafta winning Comedy legend Michael McIntyre, the Wedge Comedy Festival will be bringing together over 15 dates of Wedge Comedy Clubs, Political Satirists, TV Comedians, and exclusive Edinburgh previews.

In an extraordinary geographical feat, the Wedge Comedy festival will be bringing the Edinburgh Fringe hundreds of miles south to Portsmouth this summer! Catch exclusive previews from the UK's best upcoming comedians, in four double headliner shows. Alongside these performances, legendary political satirist Mark Thomas will be taking over The Wedge stage for his new show, "A Show That Gambles On The Future". Expect to leave as a budding futurologist, as Mark Thomas sets out to find out what's in store for us!

A Comedy Festival would not be fit without some amazing local talent and the Wedge Comedy festival has bucket loads, with political satirist Grant Sharkey and local cabaret legend Jo Black. Grant Sharkey's musical satire has seen him performing at the Isle of Wight Festival, as well as touring throughout the UK. Joe Black's latest show 'A Decade of Decadent Dirge', has been described as a Song and Dance feast, and celebrates ten years of his own peculiar brand of Weimer inspired-cabaret. This show is certainly not a show to be missed.

Wedge Comedy Clubs run every other Friday throughout the year, featuring three of the best upcoming comedians, food table service, and a free It's a Sin club night till 2:30am! For the Wedge Comedy Festival we have taken our favourite Comedy Club appearences from across the year, curating them into a cracking bill for each of the 8 Comedy Clubs that are included in the Comedy Festival.

With 25 years under its belt, the Wedge Comedy Club is currently the longest running Comedy Club in Portsmouth. Eddie Izzard's kicked off his world tour with two warmup nights at the venue. Jack Dee sold out three nights on his first ever UK tour here (with support from a little known act, Lee Evans). Everyone from Josh Widdicombe, to Jack Whitehall, Bill Bailey to Russell Howard, have all graced The Wedgewood Room's historic stage. The Wedge Comedy festival is a celebration of this legacy. Join us at any of the 15 events, and find out why The Wedgewood Rooms is one of the most iconic Comedy venues in the UK.
