Join weaver Alice Hume at Hotwalls Studios for this month’s Open Studio event. Alice will be working on the Parade Ground, and offering the opportunity for you to contribute to her large recycling inspired weave.
Alice Hume is a Textile Artist who studied Fashion and Textile Design at Winchester School of Art where she specialised in Woven Textiles. In her second year she had the opportunity to study at the Swedish School of Textiles in Boras, Sweden for five months. This enabled her to learn and create fabrics on Carpet, Terry Towel, Jacquard and Traditional Swedish Looms.
After Graduating Alice and her father collaborated to make handmade frame looms called Hume Looms from recycled wood which she uses to teach weave workshops. Alice now creates contemporary woven wall hangings and interior pieces at her studio at Hotwalls using unusual materials of copper, raffia, recycled denim and driftwood. She has also exhibited her work in edinburgh, Islington, Alexandra Palace and most recently a Solo Exhibition at Aspex Gallery called Wild Water, inspired by the Sea and refugees.
